The 3 Faces of God | Is God a She?

God, Christ & The Spirit

The Lord comes to us in so many mysterious ways, doesn’t He?

Have you ever heard someone call God, “her” or refer to the Spirit of the Lord as a Lady? I’ve heard the Lord compared to being “Mother Earth” even! But quite frankly, there are only 3 faces of God, we neatly refer to these faces as the Trinity, “the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit”. So, to what purpose does each one serve? Well, let us review.

THE FATHER

Most of us refer to the “Father” as the almighty Spirit that is the ultimate being, the top level, the discipliner and the one who we ought to be in fear of. In our wordly Adam ways, we’ve attached Our Father with basic images that we relate our earthly Father’s with. The worker, the Provider, the Legal side of our faulty ways. When in fact, there is actually no separation from God and Jesus! The “entity” of God is magnified through Christ as well! Jesus talks to his disciples on several occasions about being “one” with the Lord. He talks about the Lord being inside of Him, not off in some heavenly place, but right there INSIDE of Him! Therefore, if you have met Jesus, you’ve looked into your Father’s eyes! Whoa! How cool is that!

John 14:9

9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work

THE SON

Jesus was given to us as The Father’s Son, as a man, who suffered on behalf of us, “Adam” to rid us of our sin. He is the reason we are not in-debted to our Father anymore! If there were a name back in biblical times that meant “Bailsmen”, Jesus would have that name as well.

When we think of Jesus, we think of the Grace part of God don’t we? The “Love” part of God that is gentle and patient, we think of Healing! And Teaching! Jesus is representative of our walk with God as a human on Earth. We so often compare ourselves to His walk, when we forget that when we BELIEVE, He becomes one with us and therefore walks with us! This is why we say, when God looks at us, He sees the “Finished Work”. The Finished work is Christ on the Cross! That is the final token of Grace that allows us to walk in front of God naked again! We no longer need to worry about being ashamed in front of our Heavenly Daddy because we have become one with Jesus and His presence in us makes us White as Snow. Woohooohallelujiah!

So, to Review What we have learned together so far… Christ is One with God, then we accept Christ and we become one with Him… Do you see where I am going with this Believer?

Yes, We are ONE WITH GOD now!

THE SPIRIT

How do we know when we hear the Lord speak? Why do we get chills when we have an epiphany when talking about the Lord or reading the bible? Or weep when we sing praises to the Lord? What is the language of speaking in tongues and how are we inspired to do these things?

The Holy Spirit! The Spirit is what we feel when we feel emotions in relation to God! It is what speaks to God for us and why we can understand God when He speaks to us! He is our Translator! Our Friend! The Comfort we feel when we are sad and Peace we feel when we ask the Lord to help our Unbelief. The Spirit is the LOVE of God. In other ways, you could think of the Spirit as the “Mother” side of God! So, there you have it! There is a part of God that shows a female side. But, as a whole, God is Father, Mother and Son… It is that wholeness, or “oneness” and unity of these three that makes God Complete.

Romans 8:26-27

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

Another interesting note is to look at the fact that the “Trinity” means three. The number, 3, and its meaning in the Bible has great significance as to why God is 3 entities. The Number 3 means, Complete. You can see more about Numerology in my recent post, Numerology of the Bible

Comprehending our Father in Heaven can sometimes be difficult, let’s face it, He’s got a much larger vocabulary than we do! But the Lord, in His tender loving care & Mercy, actually speaks to each and every one of us in language that we can understand. Sometimes what we are going thru needs tending to in different ways, that is why the Lord is so good to us in infinite ways and approaches us properly each time.
